About As Christ Loved

The study

Ephesians 5:25 commands husbands to “love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her”. This sounds great, but what does it mean? Yes, Christ loved us so much that he submitted to even death on the cross for us, but how did Christ love the church? I looked for a good book on being an ideal husband, but even religious books on marriage seemed to center on stories of other marriages, or the words of men who have seen good and bad marriages. I wanted reliable truth, not opinions or observations, and there is only one source of truth in this world: the Bible. So I read the only book on marriage we need. I’m still searching, and hope to never stop discovering all of His loving attributes. I’m always open to correction and exhortation, so please use the contact page to let me know if I’m not exegeting the Word correctly. But above all, I hope the things I write lead you to do what I’ve done… read God’s word. As men, it is too easy to forget that verse 26 applies to us, as we are Christ’s bride… we need to seek to to be cleansed “by the washing of water with the word”.
